Up the Mountain
Sarah would write some but she can’t get away from the Aljazeera and catching up on her 80’s and 90’smovies or ETV (Ethiopian TV). Trust me it would be better if she would write, but she is not willing to put down her son long enough to write anything.
During dinner Micah worked up a real good one and it made a mess. Sarah has turned into a baby changing Ninja without the aid of a changing table. After all that was settled we got into a new car for the trip up the mountain.
After going through a congested section with many shops and people lining both sides of the road we started up the mountain. Immediately we started seeing ladies of all ages carrying these huge bundles of euclapytus. I cannot stress huge enough. They had them strapped on the shoulders as they hunched over to carry the load. We had to swerve and honk the whole way up the mountain due to the hard working ladies. The driver said they were taking them to the market to sale. Once we reached the top there was huge St. Mary Church that was very decorated and colorful. The driver went through the gate of the church so we could park. At the gate there were many handicapped people sitting there and people kneeling and praying. It gave me a real picture of when the Bible references the gate. We toured the grounds in which there was the 1st palace of Emperor Menelik. Very interesting to see what they were building in late 1800’s compared to what America was building at the same time. After walking around the compound some more we loaded up for the decent. Again we had to dodge the ladies carrying the huge bundles and we stopped for a photo opportunity. Out of nowhere kids start coming up wanting money. I still don’t know where they were hiding. We get the picture and continue the decent. The smell of eucalyptus must have put Micah in a trance because he was out of it on the way home.
Once we reach the hotel we gave Micah another bath and just let him roll around, which he loves to do. All of you will soon meet him and you will agree with us that he is an awesome child. Very happy, loves to smile and laughs all the time.
Sarah and I dined in again and I have drank three cups of coffee so I will most likely write another blog reflecting our trip because between the Caffeine and the dogs, I will not get to sleep anytime soon.
Tomorrow we are scheduled to go meet Micah’s mom. Please pray for her and us. At first I was very apprehensive about this meeting but God has given me peace and I am looking forward to meeting her.
Lilly and Emily: Your parents miss you a whole lot and can’t wait for you to meet your little brother. We love you beyond what you can imagine and can’t wait to hug and kiss all over you. Lilly, we hear that you looked awesome for being 100 years old. I just hope you are not too old to make the trip to the airport. We would be greatly disappointed. Emily, Micah loved the doggy you sent to him. He immediately kissed it! Each time he looks at the picture of you two, he giggles! He can’t wait to meet you!

It is 11:30pm here and I just got a call and my luggage has arrived. Good timing. Better late than never.
If you are intrested here is our flight information coming into L'ville.

He is beautiful. I do not know what to say anymore. As I write I am filled with emotion. I have prayed for you all very much. I know I am not there and can't imagine what all you are experiencing but it is definiitely affecting me. Shawn would or will freak out when I say this but this 48 year old man would love to have another son or daughter. I will think on that another day. Much prayer needed for that kind of thinking. I love God so much! He has blessed me so much through your experience. You guys have not just adopted a son, you have followed the will of God and he is very pleased with both of you. Some people do not understand why someone would go so far to get a child. They say why didn't they get a child from America. It is because the Holy Spirit called you and you obeyed. Jesus Christ had something he had to do also. I am so glad he did. By your faithfulness to him with what you have done God will reward you many times over. I am crying as I write. God has broken me once again. I am so glad to have friends that follow the will of God. It is not just you guys but many that we go to Church with and that we associate with in our daily lives. Thank you Matthew! Thank you Sarah! No more to be said. "Though none go with me, I still will follow, No turning back, No turning back".
Love,
Glenn
We have missed you this week in the office, but I send out a daily update on you all to the high school staff - including pictures, of course! Everyone is enjoying reading your blog, many of us have cried as we read. Micah is so adorable! We can't wait to see him and you two for real! Have a safe trip home.
Your daily blogs have been the high point of my day. Every day look forward to seeing what's happening with you guys. The pictures of Micah are sooo incredibly cute. I love the baby fat rolls!! He is beautiful. Gracie and I are in love with him already! Thinking and praying for you all every day. Rene'
Matthew & Sarah,
Your son is adorable! Truly a blessing from God. I am very excited for both of you as well as your entire family. We are still going to attempt to meet you at the airport on Saturday night in Louisville approximately 8:30. You are and have been in our prayers, it sounds as if everything is going like clock work for you. We have been keeping up with the whole story on the blog, it sounds so amazing. I am pretty technoligically disadvantaged so this posting on a blog thing is totally new for me. Hope to see you all soon. We pray for your safe return.
Love,
Eric & Fran Runner
Matthew & Sarah,
It has been exciting and inspiring following your journey! Micah is absolutely precious. I have missed you both at school and I can't wait to see that precious boy! Sounds like there will be plenty to talk about when we run upon your return...which means more breathing for me :), which will be great. Darrell and I are drinking coffee right now to keep us warm before we hit the sack and were just commenting that you could potentially be drinking coffee to begin your big day ahead. We are blessed to have you in our life and look forward to your safe return home. Hopefully, you won't be bothered by any more barking dogs in Ethiopia! God Bless, Darrell & Shannon
At least you can have fresh clothes for the plane ride home! :) So happy to hear things are going well! Can't wait for the David's to all be home together! Praying for a safe flight home! Tony and Kristy
I am noticing the verse of the day and what more can be said. This must be Sarah D's day for sure as it is Jeremiah. 29:11
Hope you are having a great day and I hope the visit with Micah's birth mom went well. Praying for you and can't wait to see ya.
Love, Jim
